Bridal Guide - Planning

  • The benefits and drawbacks to having a longer-than-average engagement. The Five-Year Engagement premieres today, and it's a topic that hits close to home for the BG web team—between the two of us, we have a five-year engagement (two for Kristen, three for Stefania). So, in honor of the movie, we're sharing what we've learned about the benefits and drawbacks to having a longer-than-average engagement. THE PROS Time to Build the Life You Want and Prepare for Marriage One of the best parts of having a long engagement is that it gives you breathing room to focus on your career, get a sense of what your partner will be like as a spouse and decide what you both want for your marriage (living plans, when to have children, etc). It's a commitment towards a future together—one worth waiting for. My fiancé and I decided to get engaged because we were ready to take that next step after dating, but our plans to tie the knot in 2012 were derailed when his physical therapy program added an extra year to their requirements. An extra 365 days is a small price to pay for finding the person I want to spend the rest of my life with! Plus, since we're still relatively young (we're both in our mid-twenties), it gives us a small window of opportunity to enjoy some "me" time before the "we" factor starts to kick in more after we're married, when it's not quite so easy (but still important to spend separate time alone or with friends). — Stefaniaread more

  • Whether you envision your wedding held in a hotel ballroom, a trendy bistro or a sunny backyard, there are pros and cons to consider for each. Here, what you need to know before you book. By:  Valerie Berrios Left Outdoors Photo Credit: Tanya Lippert Photography (left); Elizabeth Messina Pros Nature-made decor Let’s face it, who needs lavish decorations when an amber sunset, blooming wildflowers or acres of kelly-green hills can serve as your backdrop? “Outdoor and tent weddings are among my favorite,” says Allison Sargent, of Allison Sargent Events in New Jersey, whose own daughter, Carly, was recently married in a custom-built tent overlooking two fairways on a golf course. “Everyone loves the outdoors on a glorious day,” she says.read more

The Ultimate Wedding Entertainment for Your Big Day

It's probably the biggest day of your life and we appreciate just how important it is to you. If you are looking for wedding entertainment then we are the number one choice. Don’t settle for a wedding singer with backing tracks. Give your guests the ultimate live music experience. Unlike many live wedding bands From the moment you get in touch with us you'll be impressed by our professionalism and attention to detail.
Weddings are stressful enough, so we take the burden off your shoulders and deliver a night's entertainment that will have your guests spellbound.

By booking your wedding entertainment direct from us you’ll save on agency fees and get more value for your budget. So for the price you would expect to pay for a wedding singer you can have a full live band with DJ.

Check Us Out First

The best way to evaluate us is to see us play in the flesh and we encourage our prospective clients to come and see us live before committing. That way you know exactly what we offer. Some function bands only play weddings and functions which makes it difficult for prospective clients to check them out before booking them. We play showcase gigs regularly for precisely this reason. Every client that sees us live books us there and then because we are that good.
Although we are the cream of manchester wedding bands we are happy to travel further afield in fact we will travel anywhere but obviously we have to factor in expenses.

Our Service:

If it's just a live band you are looking for or a full entertainment package with band, DJ, burlesque dancers, comedian or anything else you require we can offer you a one stop shop.
When we give you a price it is all inclusive including any sub-contracted services we are providing. There are no hidden extras. We can include a DJ if required (we offer this as an optional extra because many venues insist that you use their own in-house DJ) and we have a massive database of songs and state of the art lighting and sound equipment.
We ensure that we arrive, setup and soundcheck prior to your guests arriving. It's important to build up the anticipation and if your guests hear us prior to the show starting it diminishes the overall impact. This is all part of putting on a professional show.

Here are some of the additional services we offer:

  • Rockaoke - (Karaoke with live band backing)
  • Acoustic Solo/Duo - ideal for the wedding breakfast and a classy alternative to an iPod.
  • Comedian - we have links to lots of well established comedians, both old school and alternative. Ask us for details.
  • Burlesque Dancers - impress your guests and bring a touch of vaudeville to your wedding.
  • Exhibition Dancers - Latin/Ballroom dancers - a great way to get the dancing started.
  • Typically the band provides 2 x 45 minute performances however we love playing so are happy to extend our sets if timing permits.

Dress Code

Though we are a rock band we dress appropriately to the event. We consult with our clients and decide what best suits them and their guests. Some clients book us because we are a rock band and don't want us to look like penguins with guitars. Others prefer us to open the evening in dinner suits and then dress down for the second set. We leave the decision with the client.
